A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT
As a Residential Program Assistant with our nonprofit, you play an essential role in helping our program coordinator keep our group home running smoothly. You provide additional oversight to the staffing and training of our group home as well as ensure that residents receive the individual support that they need. In addition, you help coordinate and lead the programs that we offer. Following along with our person-centered and behavior support plans, you monitor, supervise, and participate in their development and implementation, which means our residents are always receiving the top-quality care they need. This Assistant position is over the Salt Lake 4-Plex Residential Group Home. This program provides supports for 7 men with varying developmental disabilities. All of the individuals supported in this program are high functioning and require little or no assistance with personal hygiene care. The Program Assistant provides direct service for program individuals, training for staff and oversight, assisting with shopping, menu planning, medical and other appointments, monitoring medications, facility and vehicle operations, program and client finances, and works with the Coordinator planning and executing in home and community activities.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors is preferred. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Can you balance multiple tasks while demonstrating good time management? Are you an expert problem solver with strong critical thinking skills? Do you work well as part of a team? Can you remain calm in stressful situations? If yes, you might just be perfect for this human services position with our group home!
WORK SCHEDULE
The typical schedule for this position is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm (12:00 pm - 8:00 pm, once a month) and Sunday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. In addition there is some flexibility needed depending on the needs of the program and may include day, swing, overnight and weekend hours.
