Perky Beans Coffee & PB Cafe is a locally owned, community-focused coffee shop and cafe in Leander. We serve specialty coffee, scratch-made breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a welcoming, family-friendly space. Our concept combines a busy counter-service coffee shop and drive-thru in addition to a full-service cafe, and we pride ourselves on warm hospitality, consistency, and genuine relationships with our guests and staff.
We're looking for a Front of House Manager who will treat the shop as if it were their own-someone who loves coffee, cares about details, and thrives in a high-energy, people-first environment.
Position Overview:
The Front of House (FOH) Manager will oversee day-to-day operations for both Perky Beans Coffee and PB Cafe. This is a very hands-on, floor-based role responsible for leading the FOH team, ensuring smooth, efficient service during busy periods, and maintaining our high standards of hospitality and product quality.
You'll manage a team that includes baristas, servers, hosts, cashiers, and support staff, and you'll be the key link between the front of house, the kitchen, and upper management.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Service Standards
- Be a visible, active presence on the floor; greeting guests by name when possible, checking in at tables, and managing the energy and flow of the space.
- Ensure every guest receives friendly, attentive service from the first hello through payment and goodbye.
- Monitor line flow at the coffee bar, wait times for seating, and ticket times, adjusting staffing and strategy in real time.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, with a focus on solutions and building long-term loyalty.
- Maintain the Perky Beans & PB Cafe atmosphere: clean, welcoming, and community-oriented.
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Recruit, interview, and hire FOH team members who fit our culture and value hospitality.- Train and cross-train baristas, servers, hosts, cashiers, and support staff on service standards, menu knowledge, coffee protocols, and POS procedures.
- Create and manage weekly FOH schedules for both the coffee shop and cafe, balancing labor costs with service needs.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback; conduct check-ins and performance reviews and corrective actions as needed.
- Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate specials, menu changes, service priorities, and goals for the day.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment where staff feel supported and empowered.
Daily Operations & Floor Management
- Oversee all FOH opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures for Perky Beans Coffee and PB Cafe, ensuring they are followed consistently.
- Coordinate with the kitchen/BOH to keep communication clear and ticket time reasonable, especially during peak morning, lunch, and dinner rushes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, dining room, restrooms, patio, and all guest areas.
- Ensure proper setup and breakdown of service stations, condiment bars, to-go areas, and third-party delivery pickup zones.
- Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards in line with state and local regulations.
Sales, Financials & Administration
- Oversee FOH cash handling, POS operation, comps/voids, and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Track and help manage key metrics such as labor cost, average check, guest counts, and guest feedback.
- Support upselling and suggestive selling (e.g., featured drinks, bakery items, seasonal menu items).
- Help implement and execute local promotions, seasonal specials, and loyalty/marketing initiatives.
Inventory, Ordering & Vendor Relations
- Oversee FOH inventories, including paper goods, smallwares, cleaning supplies, and uniforms; assist with beverage and retail stock as needed.
- Place orders in a timely manner to avoid stockouts while minimizing waste.
- Maintain professional relationships with local vendors, service providers, and delivery partners.
Required Qualifications:
- 2 to 3+ years of FOH management or supervisory experience in a busy cafe, coffee shop, or full-service restaurant.
- Proven success leading teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong working knowledge of specialty coffee service (espresso, brewed coffee, drink builds) and/or strong interest with willingness to learn.
- Comfortable managing both counter-service (coffee bar) and table-service (cafe) operations.
- Proficiency with POS systems, cash handling, and basic reporting.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Flexible availability including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Personal Qualities We Value:
- Warm, guest-first mindset and genuine love for hospitality.
- Hands-on leader who is not afraid to jump on bar, run food, or bus tables.
- Calm and solutions-oriented during rushes and unexpected issues.
- Detail-focused and organized, with a sense of ownership in the business.
- Team player who collaborates closely with kitchen leadership and upper management.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary of $50,000-$60,000 annually based on experience.
- Performance-based bonuses or incentives (discussed during interview).
- Shift meals and Perky Beans Coffee & PB Cafe discounts.
- Paid time off (after introductory period).
