TURN Community Services was founded in 1973 by a group of parents who wanted better services for their adult children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. With locations from Brigham City to St. George, we offer a full range of services including day programs, residential living, art center programs, summer camp, and supported employment opportunities.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EMPLOYMENT SERVICES SPECIALIST

You work closely with students and adults with disabilities to help them find jobs. You assess their skills and career interests, develop job opportunities in the community, and provide on-the-job support to ensure they are fulfilling their job duties. In addition, you assist them in interviewing for jobs and then coach them until they are ready to stand on their own. Essentially, you are teaching individuals how to go through the process of getting a job and then keeping it. Hours are flexible and will vary based on client schedules and program needs.

You actively promote and present information to local schools and businesses in order to encourage enrollment and participation. SCHEDULE

This is a full-time 30 hours a week position with room to increase hours as your client base increases.

The typical schedule for this position is daytime hours, Monday through Friday. In addition, flexibility to work at other times is required to meet the needs of the program and participants.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN EMPLOYMENT SERVICES SPECIALIST

  • 18+ years of age
  • Must have own personal, reliable transportation and be able to transport individuals in a vehicle
  • Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and clean driving record
  • Ability to complete ACRE certification (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educations) within 3 months of hire
  • Must have a desire to work with individuals with varying disabilities.
  • Must be able to maintain positive relationships with parents, employers, and community partners.
  • Must be motivated to work independently.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with a computer
  • Willingness to comply with our company policy regarding background checks and drug screening
