We provide resources to more than 850 individuals with developmental disabilities. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

The typical schedule for this position is: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 1:00pm-9:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am-5:00 pm. The schedule for this position is negotiable. In addition there is flexibility needed depending on the needs of the program, such as staff coverage and emergencies, and may include day, swing, overnight and weekend hours

As a Residential Disabilities Program Assistant, your day will be dynamic and fulfilling. You will start by engaging with residents, assisting them in developing essential social skills and effectively communicating their needs. Throughout the day, you will provide support with daily living activities, ensuring high personal hygiene and medical needs are met while maintaining safety. You will collaborate closely with the Program Coordinator to plan and execute various in-home and community activities tailored to each individual's goals, while actively monitoring and participating in the implementation of Person Centered Service Plans and Behavior Supports. Additionally, you will assist in training new staff, managing shopping for necessary supplies, and overseeing client finances, all while fostering a supportive environment that emphasizes independence and well-being.

This Assistant position is over the Sandy Cottages Residential home in Sandy. The program is comprised of a house and tri-plex on the same property. Between the two residences there are 5 individuals who live at Sandy Cottages as well as one individual has a dog. The clients in this program love to go and about and do fun things, such as going to the farmer's market, playing bingo at various community locations, shopping, going out to eat, going for rides in the canyons, spending time in the park and going on trips

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR A RESIDENTIAL DISABILITIES PROGRAM ASSISTANT:

  • 6+ months of work experience with individuals who have developmental or intellectual disabilities, preferably with a focus on challenging behaviors
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Comfortable around dogs
  • Reliable personal transportation, a valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of Therap and general medical conditions
  • Ability to produce and review business letters and reports
  • Capability to perform administrative functions related to financial reporting and other duties
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skills in relationship building with individuals, families, and team members, as well as compelling personal stress management
  • Willingness to complete required training within three months of employment
