THE TYPE OF TECHNICAL TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (ELECTRICIAN) WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all manually operated and power-related tools and equipment, along with proper use of safety equipment/apparel
  • 3+ years of experience in the trade
  • Ability to teach and work with a diverse student population with varying skills and abilities
  • Effective communication of complex ideas and concepts to students
  • Ability to objectively evaluate and grade student performance against established standards as prescribed by Apex and accrediting entities

This part-time electrical trade teacher with our human services nonprofit works during the day.

As a Technical Training Instructor (Electrician), you begin each day with a clear purpose: sharing your skilled trade expertise. You're stationed at either of our locations: 210 E. 43rd Street in New York or 2402 Queens Plaza South in Long Island City, poised to make a positive influence. Your core role revolves around instructing students in both theory and hands-on coursework in a classroom setting. You meticulously plan the most effective training methods, ensuring all materials and supplies are ready. Your passion shines as you explain and demonstrate tasks, always prioritizing safety and conducting safety reviews with students. You're adept at providing extra training and refresher sessions when needed, maintaining tools and equipment for peak performance and safety. In a supervisory capacity, you assign tasks, maintain curriculum adherence, and emphasize safety standards.

Evaluating student progress against Apex curriculum goals and offering prompt, constructive feedback is part of your essential tasks. You maintain precise attendance records and grade entries in alignment with state and accrediting standards, while also enforcing school rules and conduct expectations. Keeping your trade licenses up-to-date aligns with state and accrediting standards. Every day, you empower the next generation of electricians, leaving a lasting legacy on their journeys.
