A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ELECTRICIAN / SKILLED TRADE INSTRUCTOR
As an Electrician / Skilled Trade Instructor in human services, you are responsible for providing job and safety training as well as demonstrating proper workplace procedures in a classroom setting for students. You educate students using our school's curriculum to help them become proficient in the electrical trade. Using a combination of theory and hands-on coursework, you deliver the necessary training and course instruction as well as prepare materials, supplies, and locations for instruction.
Additionally, you ensure tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety. You assign and guide all student work to ensure it's completed on time and in accordance with the assigned curriculum, offering demonstrations and feedback as needed. You provide student evaluations based on performance and goals in a timely and constructive manner. Following set state and accrediting standards, you also compile accurate attendance records and grade entries, ensuring they're submitted on time.
As required, you participate in professional and individual career development sessions to continuously improve at your job. You maintain your electric trade license in accordance with regulations and contribute to our nonprofit by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results.
