A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

As a part-time or full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) with our nonprofit, you have a responsibility to work closely with each individual under your care. Each day you ensure that their needs and preferences are met and that they are able to live as independently and comfortably as possible. You begin your day by reviewing each client's individual support plan (ISP) and preparing for any scheduled appointments or activities. In this caregiver position, you may assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, and help with meal preparation and medication administration as needed. Because you are fantastic at building relationships, you engage with the individuals you support in a variety of activities, such as going for walks, playing games, watching movies, or engaging in other hobbies and interests. You help to foster a positive and supportive environment that promotes the individuals' overall well-being and happiness.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

  • Over 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Desire to work with people who have developmental disabilities
  • Positive attitude

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

This part-time or full-time habilitation position with our nonprofit has several schedules to choose from. Our available schedules are 8:00 pm - 8:00 am, 9:00 pm - 9 am, weekends, and 24-hour shifts.
