DAY-TO-DAY

This full-time plumbing teaching position in human services works during the day.

As a Tech School Instructor - Plumber with our nonprofit, you assume the responsibility of instructing students in theory and hands-on curriculum within the subject of skilled trades. You are required to determine the best methods to deliver needed training and course instruction and prepare materials, locations, and supplies accordingly. Effective communication skills are essential in this instructional role, as you explain and demonstrate tasks to be performed and emphasize all safety aspects of the jobs and tasks. Additionally, you are responsible for reviewing any applicable job safety analyses with each student.

In this teaching position, you also schedule, organize, and provide supplemental training when necessary. You ensure that tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety, and guide, assign, schedule, and supervise each student's work. Because you are a plumbing professional, you ensure that all tasks are completed under the assigned curriculum and provide timely and constructive student evaluations based on performance and goals.

Further, you as a teacher are expected to ensure that each student follows all established rules and meets expectations for appropriate conduct within the school. To stay up to date on best practices in the teaching field, you participate in and complete professional and individual career development sessions as required. REQUIREMENTS FOR A TECH SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR - PLUMBER

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BPSS license within the trade
  • 3+ years of experience in the trade
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Classroom
  • Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all manually operated and power-related tools and equipment
