A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FOOD SERVICE ATTENDANT - KITCHEN WORKER

As a Food Service Attendant - Kitchen Worker, you pop into work ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance to food preparation and serving. Not only do you help customers with their inquiries and handle product requests, but you also operate the Point of Sale system to record prices, compile lists, and display costs. You process room service orders, including patient-initiated orders following physician prescriptions.

Your skills shine as you prepare a variety of delicious products using standard food handling procedures. A team player, you help with cleaning dishes, utensils, and more in order to maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area. When it's time for a deep clean, you assist with those cleaning projects. You love the variety that comes with your job - you're never bored!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FOOD SERVICE ATTENDANT - KITCHEN WORKER

Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6+ months of experience within the food service industry
  • An Alaska food handler's card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire
  • Some knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment
  • Some combination of formal documented training, education, or experience which demonstrates an interest in or a suitability for this type of work
  • Ability to pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English
  • Proof of immunization for TB, and any other immunizations and screenings designated for this contract
  • Contract requires candidate to get a flu shot pre-hire and annually thereafter.
  • Contractor may be required to maintain all employee health records on site.
  • COVID-19 vaccination

Preferred

  • 1+ years of customer service experience

Background Requirement:

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors: environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: Moderate

Description of environment: An industrial hospital kitchen located in a healthcare setting.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
