A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COOK

As a Cook, you take care of preparing, cooking, and presenting food for our assisted living residents. As an on-call employee, you're very flexible and can be available with short notice. You prepare foods according to nutritional services and health department standards. Cooking is fun for you, and you complete tasks with enthusiasm.

Seeing what needs to be done, you arrange for food service helpers to complete smaller item preparation. You carefully oversee the food serving lines and coffee bars to make sure they're properly stocked, set up, and cleaned. Cleanliness is a top priority, and our kitchen is always kept clean and sanitized with you on the job. You love using your culinary skills to create meals that our assisted living residents will fully enjoy!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COOK

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
• This contract requires employees to have the following immunizations: TB. Successful candidates must be able to provide immunization records for this and/or be willing to take the vaccination if offered the job.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ months of general food service experience
• Certain position(s) require a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.

Description of environment: Pioneer Home: This is an industrial kitchen located in an assisted living setting.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

As part of the onboarding process for this contract, you will be required to provide proof that you are free of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB).
