A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FOOD SERVICE WORKER

With this Food Service Worker gig, you pop into work ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance to food preparation and serving. Not only do you help customers with their inquiries, but you also operate the Point of Sale system to record prices and compile lists. You're a customer service rockstar!

Your skills shine as you prepare a variety of delicious products using standard food handling procedures. A team player, you help with washing dishes, utensils, and more in order to maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area. When it's time for a deep clean, you assist with those cleaning projects. You love the variety that comes with your kitchen job - you're never bored!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FOOD SERVICE WORKER

Do you feel energized by the fast pace of a busy kitchen? Are you a team player? Can you properly perform all cleaning tasks you're given? Do you have a friendly disposition along with outstanding customer service skills? If yes, you might just be perfect for this university position!

Minimum Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Municipality of Anchorage Food Handler's Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire
• At least six months of experience in the food service industry
• Some combination of formal documented training, education, or experience that demonstrates an interest in or suitability for this type of work
• Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
• Proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chicken pox), TB, and any other immunizations and screenings designated
• Contract requires candidates to get a flu vaccination pre-hire and annually thereafter.
• Contractor may be required to maintain all employee health records on-site.
• This work location requires COVID-19 vaccination.

Background Requirement:

Level One: An individual is ineligible to work in any position that has regular contact with or control over children, dependent adults, or vulnerable persons if the individual has been convicted of:

• One or more felonies or two or more misdemeanors of crimes against persons or crimes of violence.
• Any crime against a child, dependent adult, or vulnerable person, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or another type of offense.
• Any sex crime, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or another type of offense.
• Murder.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference will be given to those candidates with at least 6 months of experience in the food service industry.
• One year of customer service experience

Weather: Indoors: environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Description of environment: This is an industrial kitchen located in a university setting.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 35lbs Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
