A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RESTAURANT COOK

In this culinary role, you take care of preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of foods for our hotel guests. Whether you're assisting the supervisors with menu and recipe development, helping to train food service personnel, or reviewing the needs of the day, you've got a smile on your face - you love working with such a great kitchen team!

Leading by example, you enthusiastically prepare all food products following the proper procedures. Highly organized, you arrange for kitchen helpers to complete smaller item preparation. You carefully oversee the food serving lines, dining areas, and bars to make sure they're properly stocked, set up, and cleaned. Because of your exceptional food service skills, you're able to fill in for any other position in our kitchen at a moment's notice. You're glad you took this culinary job where you learn new cooking skills and earn great paychecks!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RESTAURANT COOK

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Food Handler card, or Alaska Food Workers card within 30 days of employment
• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference given to candidates with Deltek Costpoint experience.
• Preference given to candidates with lodging industry experience.
• At least two (2) years of directly related vocational training (candidates without such training need two additional years of related experience), preferred
• At least three (3) years of directly related food preparation experience, preferred
• Certain position(s) require a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
