A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

As a Building Maintenance Technician, you keep our school facilities in excellent repair! You perform preventative maintenance and repair on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, boilers, building automation systems, and more. General repair tasks come to you as well - things like troubleshooting appliances, painting surfaces, performing drywall repairs, etc. You conduct safety inspections as needed and work to ensure timely follow-up.

With attention to detail, you document all work and actions taken and input that data into our computer management system. We count on you to provide direction to other employees when needed, and you never disappoint. Keeping our school facilities beautiful and safe is important work, and it fills you with satisfaction!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have some knowledge or verifiable work experience in the building maintenance, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing trades.
  • Driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • Must have basic skills in Word and Excel and the ability to operate the Maintenance Work Order System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous facility maintenance experience
  • Technical certificate in a related field is strongly desired
  • Heavy equipment operations experience is preferred
