DAY-TO-DAY AS A CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER TEACHER

This full-time human services teaching position works during the day.

As a Construction Carpenter Teacher with our human services nonprofit, you are responsible for instructing students in both theory and hands-on curriculum within the subject of skilled trades. You have the freedom to determine the best methods to deliver training and course instruction and are responsible for preparing materials, locations, and supplies to ensure a successful learning experience. Your exceptional communication skills allow you to explain and demonstrate tasks to be performed, emphasizing all safety aspects of the jobs and tasks. In this instructional role, you also review job safety analyses with each student to ensure their safety on the job. Additionally, you schedule, organize, and provide supplemental training when necessary, and ensure that tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.

You are responsible for guiding, assigning, scheduling, and supervising each student's work, ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with the assigned curriculum. You provide student evaluations based on performance and goals in a timely and constructive manner. Your commitment to the success of your students is evident in the way you ensure they follow all established rules and meet expectations for appropriate conduct within the school.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER TEACHER

  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of experience in the trade
  • Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all manually operated and power-related tools and equipment
