A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FLEET SERVICE JANITOR - CUSTODIAN

As a Fleet Service Janitor - Custodian, you keep aircraft and airport facilities looking good! You arrive for each janitorial shift ready to get to work cleaning. You enjoy "getting in the zone" and working efficiently but are also friendly and service-oriented. Whether it's dusting, wiping down surfaces, removing trash, or cleaning restrooms, you get great satisfaction out of checking off tasks.

You help keep building entryways free from snow and debris. As needed, you periodically help out with laundry and light maintenance tasks. You also assist with transporting passengers needing wheelchair assistance within the airport terminal and the aircraft itself. With a smile, you assist them with carry-on bags, assisted devices, and checked luggage. At the end of each cleaning shift, you feel proud to see everything shine!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FLEET SERVICE JANITOR - CUSTODIAN

• Some combination of education or experience that evidences a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes
• Must be able to pass a background check and physical evaluation.
• Must be able to follow established procedures and must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in day-to-day activities.
• Must look for ways to improve and promote quality.
• Must apply feedback to improve performance.
• Must meet productivity standards, complete work in a timely manner, and strive to increase personal productivity.
• Must observe safety and security procedures.
• Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
• Must be consistently at work and on time.
• Must be able to work effectively with a minimum of supervision or support.
• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
• Consistent with Presidential Executive Order 14042, this contract requires that you must be able to meet all health requirements, including but not limited to, current and future vaccination requirements for infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The Executive Order requires that federal workers and federal contractor employees be fully vaccinated by December 8, 2021.

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Alaska driver's license with 3 years of a clean driving record. Insurable by NMS/ NDC insurance company. Incumbents must be able to uphold a current State of Alaska driver's license.

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud

Description of environment: This is an airport setting.

Physical requirements:

• The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently pull/push a cart and lift and move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear, pull/push carts, and twist. The associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The associate is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
