A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COFFEE BARISTA

As a Coffee Barista, you provide outstanding customer service to patrons of our coffee stand on the college campus. You brew a wide variety of specialty coffees, teas, hot chocolate, and blended drinks using espresso machines and coffee urns. Additionally, you act as a cashier to people purchasing beverages. A team player, you help with cleaning, maintenance, and serving.

A customer service rockstar, you assist guests with general information, inquiries, and orders. Throughout the shift, you can be found cleaning work areas, removing trash, cleaning dishes, or stocking products. If there are ever problems, you are quick to report them to the supervisor on duty. You're a naturally outgoing person, and you love the chance you have every day to meet and serve new people!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COFFEE BARISTA

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Arizona food handler's card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire
  • Six (6) months of barista experience
  • Six (6) months of training or experience that includes professional food handling or food preparation responsibilities
  • Six (6) months of cashier experience
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • This work location requires a COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of barista experience
  • Two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Observes extensive grooming, customer service, and uniform/dress standards
  • The ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision
  • An ability to quickly learn about the products being sold, cash register operation, site features, and NMS's customer service expectations/standards

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors, environmentally controlled.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually mild

Description of environment: This is a cafeteria environment located on a College Campus setting.

Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, talk/hear/see. Infrequently required to taste/smell, sit, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
