YOUR JOB AS A CAMP EXPEDITOR - CLEANER

As a Camp Expeditor - Cleaner, you maintain the cleanliness of our camp facilities including housing, food service areas, and offices. You handle various cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting. You also restock sleeping rooms, bathrooms, and other areas, removing and disposing of trash.

In addition to cleaning, you take on light maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs and keeping entryways free of snow. You participate in corporate safety programs as you do a lot of driving, no matter the weather. You're also responsible for driving and delivering items to and from different sites, using manual equipment such as hand trucks or Tommy lifts. You love that you get housing provided. With your passion for driving as well as keeping things clean, you really enjoy this job!


REQUIREMENTS FOR A CAMP EXPEDITOR - CLEANER

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience demonstrating knowledge of commercial cleaning equipment and processes.
  • 1+ years of experience in commercial housekeeping
  • 1+ years of experience as a material expeditor in camps
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past 3 years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
  • Pass pre-employment contract requirements which may include a drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment, and hearing test. Applicants not near a testing facility are responsible for paying for travel to the nearest facility.
  • Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with coworkers, customers, and clients.
  • Ability to make decisions in the moment with little supervision.
  • Ability to be on your feet for 12 hours for the scheduled rotation.
  • Ability to live in dormitory-style settings and meet the cleanliness requirements of the remote camp (Yep, housing provided!)
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company/client.

CANDIDATES OUTSIDE ANCHORAGE:

Candidates in Alaska and the lower 48 for any contract: For the purposes of pre-employment testing, Anchorage is considered the point of hire (with the exception of drug testing, which is conducted near the candidate's place of residence). Employee is responsible for travel expenses and needed accommodations related to pre−employment tasks needing to be completed in Anchorage. This includes safety training requirements, pre−employment testing or training such as physical, DOT physical/medical card, fit for duty, audiogram, or other testing required by contract/company (NSTC, APICC training, security licensing requirements, etc.).

Candidates in Alaska for Alyeska Contract: pre-employment testing is scheduled near the candidate's area of residence. The exception is when candidates live in a region without the necessary service providers to complete requirements.

Flights to Remote Locations: Employees are responsible for expenses related to reporting to point of hire (Anchorage) for scheduled trips paid for by the company for remote locations.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud

Description of environment: Remote camp setting. Employees must be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic chemicals.

Travel: Must be able to travel by plane or bus to remote camps.

Fit For Duty Test

  • Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to knuckle x2
  • Lift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist x 2
  • Lift: Lift 38 lbs. from floor to shoulders x 2
  • Carry: Carry 38 lbs. with two hands for a minimum of 30 feet x 2, self-paced. Allow a 60-second rest period between.
  • Push: push horizontally with a peak force of 50 f-lbs. with two hands.
  • Pull: pull horizontally with a peak force of 75 f-lbs. with two hands.
  • Stoop & Twist: Perform alternate cross-over toe touches x 5 on each side, self-paced but continuous.
  • Squat Test: Functionally squat x 5, self-paced but continuous.
  • Stairs: Climb up and down 12 steps x 15 (total of 180 steps). Allow a 30-second rest after climbing up and down each set of 50 steps, self-paced.
  • Stairs & Carry: Climb up and down 10 steps x 5 (total of 50 steps) while carrying 38 lbs. in one hand and using the other hand to grasp a railing for safety, self-paced. Allow a 60-second rest period after climbing up and down 25 steps while carrying.
  • Slanted Ladder: Climb a slanted ladder with 3 rungs x 3 repetitions (total of 9 rungs), self-paced but continuous.
