WORK SCHEDULE FOR A ROTATIONAL SECURITY OFFICER

This position typically works a rotational one (1) week on / one (1) week off schedule. The work week is Monday-Sunday, 12 hours a day working either 6:00 am-6:00 pm or 6:00 pm-6:00 am.


A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A ROTATIONAL SECURITY OFFICER

As a Rotational Security Officer, you have the important job of ensuring safety for our FedEx facility and a variety of nearby business clients. Monitoring the parking lot and other areas around the airport, you check the grounds in a vehicle or walk around observing inside the facilities. You always make sure that those in the area are following safety and compliance guidelines.

You're able to use your customer service skills to handle uncomfortable situations calmly. This may include de-escalating situations, warning violators of rule infractions, or responding to emergencies. You notify individuals onsite of visitors and issue ID badges. Checking doors, windows, and other areas to ensure their security also falls to you. When you find damage, you're quick to report it. Providing health, safety, and security is our #1 priority, and you feel good about the part you play in making it happen!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A ROTATIONAL SECURITY OFFICER

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least two (2) years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • Must pass a background check to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
  • Must be able to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work.
  • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  • Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud

Description of environment: This is a public aviation facility.

Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work a rotational week-on / week-off schedule with 12-hour shifts.
