A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SECURITY OFFICER - SAFETY GUARD

As a Security Officer - Safety Guard at the Tesoro/Andeavor Plant, you're a true champion of risk management with a passion for ensuring the health and safety of everyone. You bring peace of mind to the facility by proactively monitoring the interior and exterior areas and making sure all safety protocols are followed.

In the rare case of any unusual occurrences or rule infractions, you are always ready with a calm and confident demeanor, effectively de-escalating any potential threats to the safety of employees, customers, and clients. And, in case of emergencies or disasters, you're a true hero, promptly assisting in preserving life and property.

You also make sure all systems are running smoothly, performing routine checks on safety and life support computer programs, and checking other systems. If there are any concerns with safety or sanitation standards, you immediately inform the supervisor, keeping everyone in the public environment well taken care of. As needed, you issue and record ID badges. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SECURITY OFFICER - SAFETY GUARD

Do you have strong communication and interpersonal skills? Are you highly observant and vigilant? Can you think on your feet and solve problems quickly? If yes, this risk management position may be perfect for you!

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • As per contract requirements, must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a current TWIC card.
  • Ability to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work
  • Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients
  • Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud

Description of environment: This is a public refinery facility.

Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. As per contract requirements, must also complete other physical assessments, including but not limited to a run test and stair climbing test.
