A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SECURITY OFFICER

As a Security Officer, you wake up, excited for a new day. As you begin your shift, you take a look around the public environment, checking for anything unusual. You continue your shift with a foot patrol in and around the office building and grounds. You monitor the area either electronically or visually, looking for any suspicious activity. If you spot anything, you respond and take appropriate action. As you patrol, you warn violators of any safety standards and notify your supervisor if you encounter any issues.

Throughout the day you ensure the safety of the individuals in the building and surrounding areas. You are prepared to take any emergency action necessary to preserve life and property. You check individuals as they enter the building, only permitting those who are authorized to come in. Using your excellent customer service skills, you work with a variety of diverse people, helping everyone to feel welcome and safe. You take pride in providing services to ensure the safety of others and leave knowing your job was well done!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SECURITY OFFICER

Do you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills? Can you act and respond quickly as situations arise? Are you attentive to detail and motivated to find solutions? If yes, you might just be perfect for this position!

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 10+ years of law enforcement experience in the last twenty (20) years
• A valid State of Alaska Armed Security Guard license upon hire. Must be able to obtain a Concealed Carry Weapon permit from the State of Alaska
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
• Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients
• Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
• Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
• Must be safety oriented as this is a safety-sensitive position.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud

Description of environment: This is a public environment.

Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
