YOUR DAY AS A LEAD SECURITY GUARD - PATROL OFFICER

As a Lead Security Guard - Patrol Officer, you start your day feeling energized and ready to go. Once you have arrived onsite you immediately begin to monitor the area for any suspicious activity, ensuring the safety and security of the public.

Throughout the day you supervise staff, coordinate activities, manage activities, and ensure safety requirements are met. You also de-escalate uncomfortable situations when needed. In addition to ensuring the safety of the environment, you also issue ID badges, preserve life and property, and issue warnings to any violators.

At the end of the day, you make sure to properly document any reports and records before debriefing with your colleagues. You congratulate everyone on a job well done and thank them for their contribution and teamwork.

Before heading home you make sure to run through your checklist one last time, ensuring the safety and security of the environment before you go. You feel proud knowing you have done your part and played a role in securing and protecting people and property in your care!


WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR LEAD SECURITY GUARD - PATROL OFFICER

Can you work proactively in a fluid environment? Are you patient and friendly? Do you have exceptional leadership skills? If yes, you might just be perfect for this law enforcement position!

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • Ability to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work
  • Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients
  • Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
  • Must be safety oriented as this is a safety-sensitive position.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud

Description of environment: This is a public environment located at the Downtown Transit Center.

Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work a rotational week-on / week-off schedule with 12-hour shifts.
