A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SECURITY OFFICER - SAFETY GUARD

As a Security Officer - Safety Guard, you are a vital member of our team, working to ensure safety for a variety of large and small business clients in the area. You monitor assigned areas and grounds and patrol the perimeter. Whether you're checking the grounds in a vehicle or walking around observing inside the facilities, you make sure that those in the area are following safety and compliance guidelines.

You examine doors, windows, and other areas to make sure they're secure. If you ever find property damage, you quickly report and record that information. You're able to handle uncomfortable situations calmly and with confidence. This may include de-escalating situations, warning violators of rule infractions, or responding to emergencies. You're proud of the part you play in providing health, safety, and security!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SECURITY OFFICER - SAFETY GUARD

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • Ability to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work
  • Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients
  • Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to be on your feet for an entire shift
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
  • Must be safety oriented as this is a safety-sensitive position.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to loud

Description of environment: This is a public office facility.

Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
