A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GENERAL MANAGER

As a General Manager, you keep our kitchen team running like a well-oiled machine! Throughout the day, you meet with the food service and finance departments to ensure they are meeting the company's goals of providing excellent service and staying on budget. You oversee the budget and revenue, making sure the numbers are working. Additionally, you review the quality of employee training and employee development plans. Our team looks to you for guidance, and you never disappoint.

At the end of the day, you review the day's operations and are pleased to see how the team is working together to ensure our success. You enthusiastically prepare for the next day, making sure that all of the tasks that need to be accomplished are on your list. You go home feeling satisfied with the day's accomplishments and looking forward to a successful tomorrow!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A GENERAL MANAGER

Are you punctual, organized, attentive to detail, and a great problem solver? Do you have exceptional leadership and management skills? Can you effectively prioritize multiple tasks? Are you able to inspire and motivate others to put forth their best effort? If yes, you might just be perfect for this General Manager position!

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of institutional food service management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in food services technology, management, or related field
  • Experience overseeing a budget or revenue of at least 10 million dollars.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • ServSafe certification is contingent on 30 days of hire.
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

  • K-12, higher education, or related experience

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor

Noise level: Moderate

Description of environment: This is an industrial kitchen located in a school setting.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employee may travel up to 25% to various locations within the U.S. and/or remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs. Travel is coordinated by NMS.
