A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAINTENANCE - UTILITY WORKER

As a Maintenance - Utility Worker, you keep the facilities running smoothly at the University of Alaska Anchorage. You perform a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food prep, stocking, and serving duties throughout the university. With attention to detail, you wipe down counters, stock storage areas, remove the trash, restock the soup/salad stations, and more. Essentially, you keep the place well-stocked and looking good.

A team player, you help our food service team members as needed throughout the kitchen. You love "getting in the groove" and cleaning dishes, storage areas, the kitchen, and various equipment. You also help with large cleaning projects when they come up. As someone who likes to keep busy and active, you enjoy being a part of our team!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MAINTENANCE - UTILITY WORKER

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Municipality of Anchorage food handler's Card or ServSafe certification contingent upon 30 days of hire
• At least six (6) months of related food service experience
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

Preferred:

• One (1) year of food prep or related experience

Weather: Indoors, environmentally controlled.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually mild

Description of environment: This is a cafeteria environment located in a university campus setting.

Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, talk/hear/see. Infrequently required to taste/smell, sit, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
