A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEAD COOK - KITCHEN SUPERVISOR

As a Head Cook - Kitchen Supervisor, you are vital to the operations of our food service team! You oversee and help to produce a variety of meals in accordance with nutritional services and health department standards. Leading your team, you prep foods following standardized recipes and portion control standards. With attention to detail, you accurately record all amounts of food prepared, along with any leftovers.

You train new hires and assist coworkers during staff shortages. The food service team looks to you to give instructions. You are sure to maintain the cleanliness of the work area at all times. Keeping students well-fed so that they can focus on learning makes you feel good!


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Food handler's card or ServSafe certification contingent upon 30 days of hire
  • At least one (1) year of previous food production managerial or supervisory experience
  • Must have basic proficiency in MS Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must have knowledge/training of the usage of food production equipment.
  • Must follow standardized recipes.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors, environmentally controlled.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to moderate.

Description of environment: This is a cafeteria environment located on a university campus setting.

Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift. Infrequently required to sit, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
