A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - ELECTRICIAN

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician - Electrician, you keep our facilities in excellent repair! You maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install industrial electrical equipment. You also perform a wide variety of other general maintenance duties. Working with other maintenance technicians, you troubleshoot malfunctions and create repair plans to fix any problems. Whether it's inspecting wires and fixtures, checking air handling systems, detecting installed equipment hazards, or installing new circuit-breaker panels, you perform each task with preventative maintenance in mind.

You're a team player and love to assist other technicians, regardless of the trade. Every day brings something new, and you like the challenge of performing a range of tasks in a variety of locations. You take pride in keeping our facilities safe and in good repair!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - ELECTRICIAN

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have at least 4 years of experience as an electrical technician or journeyman electrician in the commercial and residential maintenance field.
  • Experience with the troubleshooting and repair of electronic control systems related to HVAC systems and boiler room equipment
  • Evidenced knowledge of the National Electrical Code as it pertains to electrical equipment in hazardous and classified areas
  • A valid Alaskan journeyman electrician certificate of fitness is highly desired.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
  • Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: Background check, SIDA security clearance, drug test, physical, and fit for duty assessment.
  • Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  • Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
  • This contract requires all employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals that are offered positions and are prevented from being vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons will work closely with human resources to evaluate their specific situations.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and vibration.

Noise level: moderate to loud

Description of environment: This is a remote camp setting. Employees must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch. Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

Travel: Must be able to travel by commercial aircraft.

Physical requirements: Must frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR AN ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - ELECTRICIAN

This full-time position typically works Monday - Friday but will also include rotating night or weekend emergency calls on an as-needed basis. Travel up to 75% of the time can be expected.
