A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ARMED SECURITY GUARD

As an Armed Security Guard, you ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our guests. Whether you're checking the grounds in a vehicle or walking around observing inside the facilities, you make sure that everyone in the area is following safety guidelines. You handle uncomfortable situations calmly and with confidence. This may include de-escalating situations, warning violators of rule infractions, or responding to emergencies.

You keep an eye out for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards. As needed, you record incidents and react to emergency calls. Everything you do helps with our mission to protect life, the environment, and property. You feel great about doing your part to keep our guests safe and happy!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ARMED SECURITY GUARD

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• At least ten (10) years of law enforcement experience in the last twenty (20) years.
• A valid state of Alaska Armed Security Guard license upon hire
• Must be able to obtain a concealed carry weapon permit from the state of Alaska.
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy
• Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
• Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
• Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud

Description of environment: This is a public environment.

Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch.
