A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LEAD COOK - CHEF

As a Lead Cook - Chef, you supervise our kitchen staff in preparing, producing, and presenting a variety of foods. Your passion for the culinary arts plus your experience in the food service industry makes you the perfect person for this fast-paced job! You come into work and immediately review the needs of the day. With attention to detail, you craft meals according to our recipes. You take pride in ensuring that food is prepared quickly while meeting our high standards of quality.

Other members of our kitchen staff look up to you and value your expertise. Naturally organized, you complete production sheets and keep a record of the food used. One of your favorite parts of work is participating in the daily temperature and taste panels to assure quality. You enjoy using your culinary skills to create fantastic meals for our guests, and you love being a valued member of our tight-knit kitchen crew!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LEAD COOK - CHEF

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have Municipality of Anchorage food handler's card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire.
  • Must have two 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen in a food service operation, restaurant, hotel, or hospital.
  • Must have knowledge and training in using a variety of food production equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
