A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

As a Social Media Specialist, you are responsible for capturing daily content for our hospitality company, such as photos and videos of staff, operations, and office activities. You use your writing, editing, and proofreading skills to prepare content across different mediums. At times, you assist with social media planning for nonprofit organizations. Your creativity is also used to design and produce flyers, menu cards, recipe cards, and event signage. To keep our content up to date and functioning properly, you conduct daily sweeps of all our brand's social media channels.

In addition, you work alongside our marketing coordinator to develop e-blasts and blog posts. You submit and upload new material to third-party platforms as well as upload and manage content on Dropbox. Special projects are sometimes assigned to you, including ensuring the building and decor are ready for clients, tasting rooms are properly prepared, and styling requirements are met for video and photo shoots. You also attend and work special events as needed. You leave work each day feeling creatively fulfilled, and it brings you great satisfaction to know your writing and communications skills are being put to good use!

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

  • 1+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with different software, including Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat as well as Office365, Google Drive, MailChimp, and WordPress
  • Knowledge of digital and print spaces and requirements
  • Ability to frame a photograph for various social formats

Experience working in the hospitality industry, including hotels, restaurants, or catering is preferred. Content creation experience or involvement in food, fashion, decor, or interior design would be a plus. Knowledge running social media campaigns is preferred, but we'll train the right person!

WORK SCHEDULE
